As we get older, and things start to age and change, we so desperately want to keep our youthful complexion. It’s a natural part of aging that our bodies slowly start to decrease the production of collagen (which is what gives us that youthful look), and this is where we then start to see wrinkles and thin lines forming. There are many skin care products out there, treatments, and serums, but for a more permanent effect people are turning to fillers.

Fillers (also known as dermal fillers)  help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. So if you’re wondering what the difference between fillers and botox is; botox reduces the activity of muscles in the face that cause wrinkles. Where as facial fillers, fill the ‘trouble’ areas and spots with collagen. This helps to stimulate new collagen growth in the face as well as plump and lift the skin to replace what was originally lost.

Before you decide to get fillers, make sure to do your research on the pros and cons and the different types that are out there:

PROS:
– Results are immediate (and if you don’t like what you see, there’s an injectable ‘eraser’ called hyaluronidase). Generally lasts 12 to 16 months.
– improve the deep lines around the eyes, brow or mouth
– change the contours of your jaw or lips
– minimally invasive procedure
– Filler injections are quick and only require a topical anesthetic at most

CONS:

– It’s very expensive (cost is per syringe – which is usually $400-$500 and most procedures use 2-3 depending the area)
– bruising, redness, and pain in the injection site
– Results are dependent on the experience and qualifications of your injector

– Fillers are temporary and require repeat injections to maintain your goal
